2011/04/29 Birmingham, AL: Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil Festival

...As anyone watching the news knows, much of Alabama was devastated by the recent mega tornado wave that rolled thru 2 days ago. We had no idea what to expect when this news hit right before our scheduled departures to Birmingham to play the Crawfish Boil. But word came through soon enough that the Boil was on! And so Team Weezer, band, crew and otherwise, have assembled like the Avengers in the storm ravaged state, hoping to spread some good cheer and smiles with the rock and the roll. Rock and Roll is a healing force, and we hope to help get the healing started!

Weezer is happy to learn that Red Mountain Entertainment and Schaeffer Eye Center are donating a portion of the proceeds of this year's event to the mid-Alabama chapter of the American Red Cross for direct relief to the tornado victims. Comment by John H. on May 2, 2011 at 10:23am: I was up in the VIP section when Rivers ventured out and climbed up there. He was singing like 2 feet away from me and it was surreal! Everyone was trying to touch him and when he turned away I patted him on the back! Show was amazing, although I have never once been to a bad Weezer show.

Thanks for bringing some rock to Alabama, Rivers. The last couple of days have been really difficult with the tornadoes, lack of power, lack of fresh food, etc. But seeing Weezer rocking out in full force certainly brightened my day!

I got some pics, but not many and not many that are good. jKlein probably has way more and way better than I do. My phone battery was also dying and I was trying to make sure I could at least tweet the setlist, so no video (again drunk people bumping into me all around)...
