State Farm helped us make the the Memories Tour possible. Both Weezer and State Farm wanted it to be more than just a sponsorship thing - we wanted to make something unique happen, to use State Farm's help to give something back to Weezer fans. And thus was born the "Grantin’ Wishes with Weezer" contest. Fans sent in wishes that only Weezer could grant, and 4 of those wishes were chosen, and then granted at the show in Chicago. Tim and Scott from Magic Hugs were on hand to help film and interview the goings on.
The winners were: Eddie, who got to play drums on "the Good Life" with the band during soundcheck. Nicole, who got to hang out with the band and have her garden gnome, Jeremy, signed by Weezer. Scott suggested the gnome hang out on stage for the show, and so it came to pass. Lawrence got to come up on stage and do some magic tricks for the crowd while the band played "Hash Pipe." And finally, Matt, a music teacher from Kansas got to sit on a couch with the band while they answered questions from his classroom of kids back in Kansas via iChat. That class also got some new music equipment courtesy of State Farm.
