It was a fun show!! The opening thing (Wayne/Rivers in a bubble.. balloons, balls, confetti, etc) was a lot of fun!! So was the end.. I like the format, but It doesn't work very well when you have a band who has 3 minute songs... and then a band who plays these long 8 minute instrumental weird songs..

Each band played on average 3 songs before switching to the next band. The problem was.. Flaming Lips played loonngggg boring songs that put the crowd to sleep. I was in the 11th row and almost the whole crowd around me sat down during the Lips set. So the Lips were on for like 25 minutes each time... then =W= comes on, and it flies by so fast because their songs are average length.

I also would have liked to have heard more from Weezer. They played these songs: Hash Pipe, El Scorcho, Perfect Situation, Tired of Sex, Paranoid Android, The Good Life, Say It Ain't So, Buddy Holly, If You're Wondering.., Pork and Beans, You Gave Your Love To Me Softly, Susanne.. and probably a few more that I'm missing.

Ok so here's the deal..

The format works if you're a fan of both bands. If not, at least in this case the energy stops flowing. The minute Weezer got off stage half the crowd sat down and sat through a bunch of weird instrumental songs... Not to say that The Lips weren't good.. I just dont think its cool when you go from "The Good Life" straight into some weird slow instrumental.

For this pairing of bands, I would have rather sat through a full Lips set and watched Weezer do their thing alone. But I must admit The Flaming Lips brought a cool light show into it and it was entertaining to watch. Weezer rocked it!!

Weezer ROCKED!!!!!  The guys sounded great.

Unfortunately Flaming Lips' long, drawn out songs stopped all the momentum of the show.

Except for the very last song, the bands didn't mesh well.

Please don't try this format again.

Amazing! I wish more concerts were like this with two headliners... I'm a big fan of both bands I'd say I've seen the Lips do better shows but despite some technical problems Weezer put on the best show I've seen them do since 1997.
