2010/09/18 Tempe AZ: Tempe Beach Park: X103.9 Fall Frenzy

....Folks, we're about to take a fast plane over to Phoenix to do the X103.9 Fall Frenzy show. Looks like its gonna be a fun day! More later - if youare going /went, comment here and/or start a thread on our message boards and/or blog on your weezer.com main page about it - tell your story!

Well, the jet was indeed fast and small, and it got us over to Phoenix without any trouble. Nothing wrong with rolling in style, so long as the cost is covered! When we hit the tarmac at Sky Harbor Int'l Airport, the 107 degree heat was indeed powerful. But theres something about the mid September almost Fall time we're in that sorta took the edge off. The sun wasnt quite as nasty as it would have been a few weeks earlier. And soon enough it started dropping in the sky, affording a merciful evening - still hot but not brutal. Over at Tempe Beach Park the crowd was massive and the music was in full swing. We got there as Devo was winding up (sans Josh who was batting for team weez), and soon Primus had taken the stage with their utterly unique sound. After that it was Sublime "with Rome", who turned out to be a darn good singer of the Sublime catalog.

Finally Weezer did their thing for the assembled multitude, delivering the hit heavy set thats been stoking the festivals all summer, plus new single "Memories". Rivers found all kinds of new things to climb today as he took a lap around the grounds during "Beverly Hills" - ATM machines, merch booths, tents, fences, you name it. Lots of happily surprised fans out in the corners - not to mention less happily surprised security guards and maintenance men!

Big ups to OG weez friend and fan Jenny R., in from Sedona to rock out to the weez like it was 1992 back at Club Dump!

I've been brought to tears of excitement before, but never like this show! Finally, a not-assigned-seating show!!! And Patrick, I definitely pray there aren't any hard feelings, not sure if I remember you calling it, but that radio show guy definitely eye-balled me for it and I don't think I'll EVER recover from how much my heart exploded with dreams coming true!! I've been a fan since I was 9 years old, so this evening sealed the half-way marker on my adulthood of having been spent loving an amazing band and will FOREVER LOVE WEEZER!!! : D (love ya, Patrick Callaghan, you were definitely fun talking to! Come back to South AZ and perhaps we can share the jacket lol)

Great show! I took my 7 year old son for his very first Weezer concert ever and I think it was the high point of his entire life so far! We could practically touch Rivers when he was climbing all over the tents. I hadn't seen Weezer live since they played in Tempe back in 1995 and I was not disappointed. The band's performance style has changed drastically but, either way, they ROCK!!

once again...badass show. finally i got to the front row. i should have gotten rivers' pink jacket, but the x1039 guy gave it to the girl next to me even though i called it first. jerk. she did seem to did the weez almost as much as me, so i didn't steal it from her. come back to the AZ soon boys. maybe flagstaff...?

I was there last night. This is not my first Weezer show. It was still amazing though. I can never get over how amazing these fellas are. I love them more and more. I personally thought the show was amazing. I would have paid even more to see them again. My absolute most favorite band ever. Thanks to the people in the front with me that enjoyed the show with me! You guys rock.

Hey I was so looking forward to the show last night, especially since the band didn't get here in January...so I sat through the dreck before Weezer, put up with vomit on my shoes, and essentially paid $75 for a $20 show. I know they had sound problems, but I came away really disappointed. Maybe that private jet attitude is rubbing off on the band in a not-so-positive way.
