2011/09/03 Minneapolis, MN: Minnesota State Fair: Grandstand

Its a beautiful evening in Minneapolis, perfect weather for the midway, the livestock competitions, the jumbo corn dogs! There could be no better capper on the evening than a set from our late '09 tour buddies Motion City Soundtrack, followed by Weezer of course! Everyone is rip roarin' and ready to go, including even yours truly who had a trains planes and automobiles nightmare including some lost luggage - but they dont call me MacGyver for nothing! The show must go on!

Great to see the cross-generations rockin' together...this was my second Weezer show (first dates back to the Pinkerton tour at First Ave in '96-97) and I have to make it a priority to catch you on the cruise to hear all of Pinkerton again. Damn that's a great album - I would argue it might be your best work...hoping to book soon. Thanks again for a great show!

The show could have had a couple more songs however.. I know these festival show do not usually have the 18-19 songs.

It was very cool to see the guys again but this was a letdown after Chicago and Austin, shows geared toward real fans, not hit-mongerers. Rivers looked bored throughout most of the night. The setlist was perfect for the annoying powers that made up the audience, so Weezer did their job for the night... Don't think they won over any new fans though. Also the cruise promotion was super awkward.
