2011/04/30 Dallas, TX: Edgefest at Pizza Hut Park

...The day started with an early rise in Birmingham to get to the airport and fly to Dallas. Two of our bags went missing but were retrieved from the void due to the Sherlock Holmes-like detective work of our tour manager. Pizza Hut Park is where the Dallas FC (US soccer league) play, and its a massive arena out in what you might think is the middle of nowhere, but in fact is just another corner of the impossibly huge Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. So we vanned it out here and got into the show day rituals, in anticipation of tonights 8 PM set. Prior to weezer Social Distortion is playing, not to mention Seether and Neon Trees. After Weezer, its Jane's Addiction, which should be pretty great. The last time weezer shared a bill with them was back in the UK at (i think) the 2002 Reading Festival.

Its hot here - not nearly as hot as it gets here in the summer, but hot enough to feel like were in summer already. Also, large weird bugs are scuttling about.

I think it's lame they put the camera on the boob girls so much. It really took away from the performers. I went to see Weezer, not boobs! After the 5th time, it got old. I've been a fan since I heard the Sweater Song while working in a yogurt shop in high school. 1994... yeah, I'm old. Come back soon and play Across the Sea! I was excited about Jane's Addiction, but they didn't even play Jane Says!! Weezer was definitely the best!! My husband is now a fan!

She was dancing and singing and even tried to throw up the "Weezer sign" with her hands. My husband and friend had never seen Weezer live and said it was the BEST show they'd ever been to, and didn't think anyone could ever top it!

I kept waiting for Pink Triangle, so hoping to hear it next time :) NO idea why Weezer wasn't the headliner. People left in droves after Weezer, including most of my section. Jane's Addiction was terrible, we left after 2 songs.

The show was high energy and the band appeared to have a great time. In reponse to all the women that were showing their boobies to the camera, Rivers showed his!

The only thing keeping the experience from perfect was all the stupid crowd surfers going right over me! It made it harder to give my undivided attention. But even though I was sweating like a dog and I woke up this morning bruised all over, I would still say it was worth it to fly out from Colorado to this concert!

We left after Weezer ended, even though we missed Jane's Addiction because we felt Weezer was a hard act to follow and it couldn't get any better. I was proud to be a Weezer fan. Rivers is the nicest guy alive, and so talented. Even with all his success, he still likes to keep it real and mingle with the crowd. Great job, guys!
