i teach in both a secondary school and a uni and neither advises teaching staff not to use 'brainstorm'. when i first started teaching (10+ years ago), we were told not to use it but, since then, it has transpired that no objections to the phrase have ever been raised by epileptics or other disability organisations. as such, the advice not to use it has since been disregarded by most organisations as it is utterly baseless.
it's funny that not being allowed to use 'brainstorm' is often suggested as an example of 'political correctness gone mad'/'you can't say anything these days without offending someone!', when, in fact, no-one objects to the use of the word.

b e r r y [berry] said:then their advice is almost ten years out of date. epileptic and disability rights groups have openly stated the term 'brainstorm' is in no way offensive.
