Weezer future Hall of Famers?

When Weezer retires, do you see them as qualifiers for the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame? A successful alternative rock band in a grunge dominated era and, although unintentionally, one of the pioneers of the Emo genre more than qualifies in my opinion.

Looking forward to see your opinions on why or why not Weezer should be in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame.

If they stay around for the next 15-20ish years as Rivers said he'd like to, and release consistently solid albums and maybe a couple of masterpieces among them, then they're definitely worthy (I mean, they're probably worthy now... more worthy than many of the inductees at least, but the earliest they can be inducted is in 2119).

And right at this moment, and without a doubt by his retirement, Rivers could and should be in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

He's written two masterpieces, and then a shitload of amazing songs in many different genres.

Plus, Rob Thomas is in there and Rivers > Rob.

Lol yes Rob Thomas' inclusion alone earns Rivers a spot.

I dont think we will see them inducted at band year 25 but I feel they will be in the hall of fame one day.

I don't think so. But, I read in a book by SPIN writer Chuck Klosterman that the best thing for Weezer's career would have been for them to have died in a plane crash after Pinkerton. As awful as that sounds, and as happy as I am that it didn't happen, they would possibly considered to be legendary. Although, every band does release it's share of average albums.

But, if it ever to happen for them to make the Hall of Fame, I would definitely try to be there when they're inducted.

Do I hope they will? Absolutely, they deserve it.

Should they? Yes, they certainly have the material and story that has made them worthy.

Will they? I'd say there's a 50-50 chance. They just aren't as popular as most bands that get in, which is really unfortunate. Like The dreWid said, they're underrated.
