Rivers Cuomo In A Supergroup
So this is what I'm thinking. Rivers Cuomo and other popular musicians should get together to do a couple albums like the Traveling Wilburys did (which featured Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn [ELO], George Harrison and Roy Orbison).
So I'm asking who you would like to see in this supergroup.
My choices would be:
Rivers Cuomo
Ben Folds
Mark Oliver Everett (Eels)
John McCrea (Cake)
Tom DeLonge (AVA, Blink 182)

Traveling Wilburys was the ultimate supergroup.
although Vol. 3 kinda sucked....possibly b/c Orbison had passed by then.

?uestlove is so overrated. i saw a supergroup featuring Ben Harper, John Paul Jones and ?uestlove at Bonnaroo a few years ago and he totally sucked all the life out of the performance, and butchered the version of "Good Times Bad Times" to the point that it made me sick.

The theoretical cover of "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" as sung by Rivers Cuomo, Colin Meloy (of Decemberists fame), and Brandon Flowers (The Killers) is ear-shatteringly fantastic.

I completely agree. Apparently they were setting up to have Del Shannon replace Roy (which would have been pretty sweet) but he passed away before they could. They didn't want to kill anyone else so they left the group as a quartet.

oh, i didn't know that. i guess it makes sense that i have a cover of "runaway" in my itunes done by the wilburys. that really would have been sweet...i wouldn't have been able to think of someone to replace roy orbison, but he definitely fits the bill.
