Okay on the rational side of things, I'd like to state that the song's called "Imagine" as in "think about if this could be". John knew it could never be, that's why for the time being he would provide all the security for he and his family as possible. But that's the point of the song it's listing all these things and saying "Doesn't that sound like peace to you?", that's the simple genius of Lennon.

Did I say he didn't neglect his first born, no. I'm only indicating what he did in the 70s, when he grew up and actually wrote Imagine. Honestly John and Paul were both twats in the 60s but what bothers me and most others about John is how completely self-absorbed he was, it wasn't until his "Lost Weekend" he truly got over himself. He always had a lot of good in him though. Plus I thought the rankings were based on song writing. P.S. I do know Paul carried the late Beatles Albums, it really was a tough choice.

no, you said "that's why for the time being he would provide all the security for he and his family as possible." which is something he didn't do for his first son in the 60s or 70s. according to wikipedia (where we are both surely gaining our information) he did rebuild a sort of relationship with his son when he was about 10 years old...but only because john's girlfriend at the time urged him to do so. Also, he was left out of his father's will. doesn't sound like a good way to provide security for your family... John was indeed a c*** and he was not the best song writer either. he and paul wrote some of the best songs of all time together...but his solo albums sucked. and george was by far the most musically talented. he didn't write many songs with the beatles....but some of his later contributions are among the band's best. also, 'all things must pass' is infinitely better than any other member's solo album.

John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band doesn't suck and I would personally say it's better than ATMP

no, you are right that it doesn't suck...but imo, all things must pass as well as paul's "venus and mars" "ram" and "band on the run" are all better

It's all a matter of preference, I just really John's songs and I really don't think he was THAT bad a person, but that shouldn't really matter if we're talking about ranking, none of us knew any Beatle. I'm not using wiki though and for the record Ringo was the best person of all of them and they're all flippin' awesome. How about our favorite Beatles songs?

of course it matters if you're ranking them.
I like his music but he beat women (including Yoko) and he neglected his first child. I'm pretty sure that matters when you rank them.
