It's not a perfect take. But we only really got one take to do it.

is calling yourselves "Only Giants" some kind of pretentious act claiming that you are better than "They Might Be Giants"?

Or it could be some satirical way of calling out "Giants" for thinking they're better than They Might be Giants. ;)
Entirely original band names are very hard to come by. I personally googled about 100 ideas. Which were all taken.

here are 5 super sweet original band names that i thought up in 1 min...the longer you think about a band name, the worse it will become.
1. the applejack 5
2. pancake overload
3. the malaria epidemic
4. optimality theory
5. harry connick jr. was only cool in the mid-90s
the first two are breakfast influenced, the next two are random things i heard in lectures today, the last one is an opinion of mine..but that doesn't mean it isnt true. all 5 of these bands have a potential to be more successful than a band called only giants. feel free to change the name of your band to anyone of these

spaz, you are right that pancake overlord does sound cooler...but after reviewing the three pancake options, clearly pancake armageddon is the correct choice. i feel, as someone who once worked at an IHOP, that i should have thought of this....
