New sticky request for ATW
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of people posting asking where to find demos/bsides/unreleased tracks/any song by weezer. What's even worse is that we can't post links to actual file sharing sites so it's worthless to ask.
Can we create a thread simply telling people to search on Google or do I need to keep posting links to http://lmgtfy.com/?q=let+me+google+that+for+you?

the rules are clear. people can post links to anything that is not subject to copyright. that includes demos, live and unreleased stuff (as long as it isn't being released in the foreseeable future), which is usually what people are after.
those threads can get annoying but you can just not respond and let them die. imo a sticky isn't needed. people just need to read (and understand) the forum guidelines.

maybe they also have stuff that's copyrighted available there? idk. if it's just the demos, live and unreleased stuff, there's no reason for them to be removed.

I think they should just have all of the demos available here (unless they can't do so because of space or possible legal entanglements with geffen.)

Also, the rules are that links can't be posted in the forums. We can not control if people trade links privately.

So since most demos ARE subject to copyright protection, shouldn't thread requesting them be locked/deleted to avoid illegal activity?

Any form of musical recording is subject to copyright instantly upon (and during) creation
If demos/live recordings etc. are allowed, then it's not for legal reasons, it is simply the will of the copyright holders

Who remembers December of 2001 through March of 2002? or May 2002 through July 2002?
I think Rivers wants us to have those Demos. So then we can always b**** about how great Maladroit "could have been".
We saw no Demos (or very few) for Make Believe and every album after that, and I think that is on purpose.

while rivers did learn his lesson about trusting fans for song advice with the maladroit fiasco, geffen also came down pretty hard on rivers for sharing the demos. that's the real reason you didn't see any demos after that period. geffen owns everything weezer has done up to the end of their contract.
