No, I like it because the songs on the album are good. Dude, my sister would listen to Nsync and Backstreet Boys all the time and I hate those songs. I am way too familiar with boy band songs and I hate them because they suck. It is insane to say giving something a try is surely stupid. As a kid, I HATED System Of A Down and any band that screamed or yelled. Now I scream in my own dang songs dude! Because it is possible to like something that you once didn't and to think any different would be silly. Did you look at my neck?

listening to an album you dislike on repeat while you sleep is a bit more extreme than "giving something a try."
you forced yourself to like the album because it's a weezer album. placemats' quote was apt. given your initial reaction, would you have spent the same amount of time listening to hurley if it was by an unknown band?
nsync and bsb put out some great pop songs. you hate them because you think you're supposed to hate them.

Silly. There is no pattern. I do not like BSB because their songs do no appeal to me. I could listen to them a million times and that would never change, no matter how many times. I don't think I am supposed to hate them, I simply don't enjoy the music. There is a long list of bands I would give a try, not just Weezer. Weezer has impressed me with previous releases so of course I am going to give them a try. Why would I listen to an unknown band on repeat? Unless someone said "Zach, you will love it" and I trusted their opinion. I am on a Weezer forum........ Duh dude.

Drewild is correct. A lot of the songs sound pretty good (hang on, ruling me, train wrecks) but they don't really feel all that genuine or long-lasting. It's all pretty disposable Weezer-lite type of stuff. The lack of passion is evident when you look at how little Rivers and co. Promoted it. I think it was a concerted effort by Rivers to try and make a rock record again and so it is on some levels a pleasing listen, but it mostly feels a little empty. Hang On was great live and I wish I could have seen it. Memories is a fantastic song in its live form IMO. If the band played on the album I think the whole thing would sound better.

Bill said:hurley is a great album, i love it front to back. the only thing i don't like is the cover, which i believe ruins the impression of how people/critics took the music. i think musically hurley is pretty sincere (except for WMS) but the cover makes it seem kinda like a joke.
having said that, i don't think anyone really knows how much of a full band effort it really was, it terms of who played what on the albums 10 songs. i always wish weezer would detail out who played what instruments for each song. regardless, i also believe it will be viewed as a very solid album.

I'm excited for anything new that Weezer puts out. Demos would be great to hear. Some of Rivers acoustic demos are my favorite things, like Private Message, Everybody Wants the Change to Feel All Alone, etc...
