"the beauty of December"
Permalink Reply by crakker78 on May 31, 2012 at 5:20am I always gave this album about as much attention as I did to Make Believe, which would be almost none. But after listening again recently to most of it I do like it a lot more than I did. I still think Make Believe sucks though.

I think that the Maladroit demos are a lot better than the actual album. I much prefered the original versions of Burndt Jamb, Slob, Keep Fishin' and especially December and American Gigolo because Mikey added some nice falsetto to those songs, but they completely changed a lot of the songs. I do however really enjoy Death and Destruction and Rivers' guitar skills are amazing on this album, but its just not really my thing and I think Weezer made some bad decisions with this album, but overall I still quite enjoy it.

Dope Nose used to be one of my least favorite songs, but ever since Scott took over on vocals when they play it live...I love it. The Japanese Deluxe Red Album DVD has an awesome performance of it (I have an extra, unopened copy if anyone wants to buy it - $18 w/shipping)
The Maladroit demos were released at the height of my fanboy-ness, so this album will always hold a special place in my heart. I still have them all, and love HOW LONG more than anything.
Google translate says Maladroit = "clumsy" in English. I thought it meant "awkward". Anyone know for sure?
Permalink Reply by shelbyxpwns on May 31, 2012 at 11:23am awkward and clumsy are synonyms.

Permalink Reply by jorys beral on June 1, 2012 at 12:34am I'm French and I can assert that Maladroit is the French for clumsy!
But does anyone know why did Weezer choose this name for this album?

Permalink Reply by Jens Van Avondt on June 1, 2012 at 7:27am Maybe because the album sounds rough and clumsy :)
