Let's Talk Maladroit

Okay, so believe this record to be one the 50 greatest albums of all time(or a least the ninety-second) but, this album rarely gets, even in the weezer community, the credit it deserves. With the infectiousness of Dope Nose, Slob and Love Explotion to the experimentation of Space Rock and Fall Together to the beauty of December and Death And Destruction and all self produced you can't go wrong, magical. Anyway, what do you folks think of this underrated beauty?

I always gave this album about as much attention as I did to Make Believe, which would be almost none. But after listening again recently to most of it I do like it a lot more than I did. I still think Make Believe sucks though.

I think that the Maladroit demos are a lot better than the actual album. I much prefered the original versions of Burndt Jamb, Slob, Keep Fishin' and especially December and American Gigolo because Mikey added some nice falsetto to those songs, but they completely changed a lot of the songs. I do however really enjoy Death and Destruction and Rivers' guitar skills are amazing on this album, but its just not really my thing and I think Weezer made some bad decisions with this album, but overall I still quite enjoy it.

Maladroit isn't flawless (D&D should have been twice as long), but, it's so f'ing awesome, it's hard to criticize.

Dope Nose used to be one of my least favorite songs, but ever since Scott took over on vocals when they play it live...I love it. The Japanese Deluxe Red Album DVD has an awesome performance of it (I have an extra, unopened copy if anyone wants to buy it - $18 w/shipping)

The Maladroit demos were released at the height of my fanboy-ness, so this album will always hold a special place in my heart. I still have them all, and love HOW LONG more than anything.

Google translate says Maladroit = "clumsy" in English. I thought it meant "awkward". Anyone know for sure?
