we can all see the cosmetic changes and we know the leaderboard is gone for the time being but are there any functional changes to this latest modification? for example, have any of the previously-made suggestions been implemented or any other, new features added/old features removed?

Agreed, bright light blue colors on white... that's a design no no. It's like neon green on white. You just don't do it.
