There are probably some posts going around with people saying what they would wanna see on a greatest hits, but I wanna put my own and I'm too lazy to go through the whole forum to check out one post. So I know a greatest hits list is pretty generic, and I'll post what a generic list would look like.

Generic

1. Undone (The Sweater Song)
2. Buddy Holly
3. Say It Ain't So
4. El Scorcho
5. The Good Life
6. Pink Triangle
7. Hash Pipe
8. Island in the Sun
9. Photograph
10. Dope Nose
11. Keep Fishin'
12. Beverly Hills
13. We Are All On Drugs
14. Perfect Situation
15. Pork and Beans
16. Troublemaker
17. (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To
18. I'm Your Daddy
19 Memories

now... this is generic, and would irritate me if released, but I guess most people would have backlash to it as well. Anyways, what i want is to see what you guys would want on a greatest hits. It has to be something that was originally released on an album or a bside to that album.. deluxe edition songs count. here's what I want..

probably pretty close, but they might scale it down a little and mix up the track order.

got to ask yourself though, in the digital age what use is a greatest hits package??? besides the one song unreleased song (which most of will d/l for free) the set really offers nothing to weezer fans and little to the casual fans. you buy things ala cart on itunes, so there is really little this type of package could hold.

i liked represent

Are you people f****** kidding me? Represent is without a doubt the worst f****** Weezer song ever, if not the worst song by any artist ever. 2010 has been a great year for Weezer, but recording and releasing Represent was by far the dumbest move ever.
hahaha i like those songs as well. it's tough to think of a greatest hits list without including all of pinkerton and blue plus their respective b-sides and outtakes.

pinkerton junkie, take off represent, and blowin my stack, and wheres my sex. Replace them with holiday, burdnt jamb, and the best weezer song ever recorded, you wont get with me tonight. Then we have the same list.
You just got pinned. Maybe they're looking for fan input :D
My major input is, do NOT make it a standard one-disc collection!

The greatness of Weezer is that it's not an average, one-disc-best-hits band. The songs are amazing, and not just the popular ones. Maybe have a one-disc singles discography for the popular stuff (maybe with "My Name is Jonas", "Why Bother?" and "Only in Dreams" tacked on just because they are popular enough) and then a deluxe, massive multi-disc set with awesome packaging and tons of unreleased stuff... So many would buy it! Haha
haha and the b sides :)
is this a greatest hits or a best of? subtle difference I know, but it can change the whole list
weezer could take this chance and do something U2 did with their best of disks, and that is to release some long forgotten stuff. there is stuff from the blue album and pinkerton, demos and such we haven't gotten.

U2 also do new mixes for all the songs that come off 'pop'. they really went in and cleaned up the tracks, recorded some new stuff and do a whole new mix/version.

I think I would rather see weezer release all new mixes/demos/ect of the best tracks, rather than a straight forward 'best of...' collection, which no one needs. see above, i covered all those bases.
The first list, "generic", you came up with would be the only viable track list for a greatest hits record.

Weezer wouldn't logically release b-sides, or tracks that weren't singles onto a greatest compilation. Bash the band for doing so, but you already have access to all the songs you listed out, and the 3 disc set you just listed would only happen after Weezer 15th album.

Look at the Beach Boys, they have 20+ albums, and their Platinum Hits album is 3 discs long, all of songs that were released as singles. You can keep wishin' for a 3 disc greatest hits compilation, but in the meantime, just make some CD-r's or a playlist.
On another note, there could only be a greatest hits album for Blue - Raditude, as those albums are on Geffen.
It seems Greatest Hits discs are for people shopping in Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc....that remember hearing someone they know like weezer, so they see a greatest hits cd, and buy as a gift for them.

The other use they are for, are for Top 40 fans. Listeners that don't actually get into anything and don't have a favorite band, unlike all of us on here have.

Idea: no greatest hits colection. A collection of unreleased weezer songs.
