Does anyone have information regarding how Weezer is able to control the feedback from their guitars so well? I remember reading that The Angel and the One was a one take willy, and with the feedback they produced in the end- it kind of seems like that wasn't the case.

Any info?

I don't think that harnessing feedback in a studio environment is any big secret. It's just about experimenting with your guitar/effect/amp setup in a controlled environment. I've watched my 8 year old do this with his beater single humbucker guitar and cheapo 15 watt practice amp, so I'm fairly certain that it's a piece of cake when you have unlimited wattage and effects.
Even with regards to time restraint? I can never reproduce the same feedback twice. I was wondering if they use any specific techniques.

My understanding is that feedback is caused when sound waves from the speaker cone cause the strings to vibrate, interfering with the magnetic field of the pickup(s), in turn sending that signal back into the amplifier, creating a loop of sorts. It generally happens with high gain and when you stand facing and in close proximity to the speaker cone. It can be controlled by dampening the strings and moving closer to/farther away from the speaker cone, or by adjusting the volume/tone controls on your guitar. I've never tried, but have heard that boost pedals are helpful in controlling feedback.
