Reminds me of the arcade game "outrun" but instead of a cherry red Ferrari it's from the perspective of an 82' Datsun.

Outrun was awesome. Best thing about it was that it was actually playable, as opposed to "Dragon's Lair", which looked so cutting edge to my 8 year old brain but turned out to be a complete tease once I learned how it worked.

Yea, I remember that game! Never really played it, but I do remember seeing it in the arcades as a kid. For me, my all time favorite game was Space Harrier (which had a graphics engine that was similar to Outrun and Hang On). Loved the effects on it - especially when it got faster through the game.
