Hi guys. Has anyone here checked into how much it costs to book Weezer for a concert. I mean the basic cost, salary for them and their team and not flight and hotel (although a rider would be cool as well).
I'm kinda fed up with the choices we have in concerts by foreign acts here in Iceland this year. We have a lot of old has-beens (even never-beens) like 10cc (1 original member even !), Jethro Tull, James Taylor, Manfred Manns Earth Band, Don McLean, Elvis Costello (although he's a legend). And that's about it. So I'm letting my mind wander a bit. Nothing here catering to the younger generations :( It's just dreadful.

Permalink Reply by Bjorn on February 29, 2012 at 8:55pm Nohh really, Hmm. I've kinda thought they were on the cheaper side of popularity/marketability vs cost ratio. But yeah if someone has some figures a private message would also be good.

I now realize that this doesn't mean it would cost 150,000 to book Weezer for an event. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Permalink Reply by Daniel [bleed0range] on March 1, 2012 at 11:08am I'm pretty sure they don't do private events even if you have the cash, so you'd have to like book through a venue or something... do it up the professional route.
Permalink Reply by kittens bieber (remix) on March 1, 2012 at 11:42am ya they only play private events for big corporations, not little people like you.
they have standards, after all.

Permalink Reply by Daniel [bleed0range] on March 1, 2012 at 12:41pm I know you are referencing something they did recently but I can't remember what. I know Rivers did a private event one time for his daughter's school or something (charity related). I was paraphrasing an old answer to the question about booking that used to be on the old .com. It's probably still in the info section on here.

Yeah I wasn't thinking about a private party and I think my original post indicated I was thinking of a regular gig, selling tickets and all. Every band does a private party if the money is big enough. That's a thought if I win the lottery someday ! :P
But yeah it was just my mind wandering because the concert scene here is so horrible (see first post) and I've had this dream for a few years to become a concert promoter. I've even worked with promoters on bigger acts than Weezer. I kinda forgot when I did this thread that concerts, at least in small markets as this, are often a collaboration between a promoter and a band so I was never going to get an exact amount. But thanks Gohi for that link, the list I found through that puts things in some kinda perspective and it's really interesting. Lotta acts no ones heard about that aren't that much cheaper than Weezer. Possibly.
Of course if I was serious about this I'd go the professional route and send a message to their management or agency or whatever. Who knows what the future holds.
Permalink Reply by nick dowdle on May 3, 2013 at 3:03pm I was wondering if you had any luck with booking Weezer and if so how did you do it?. I am with the Hobart Jaycees and we are having our annual Jaycee Fest.

Permalink Reply by Bjorn on May 3, 2013 at 3:52pm Nope. Haven't tried to find out who manages their bookings either so can't help you with that. But good luck.
