Can somebody make one happen?  It would be nice to have.

if the reason you want to ignore someone is that they're a genuine nuisance in the chat, let a moderator know. by 'genuine nuisance' i mean anyone who floods or spams the chat, uses inappropriate language or acts in an excessively offensive manner.

if you want to ignore someone you simply don't like... well, your brain has an ignore function. use it ;)

an ignore feature would be awesome, because it would be a simple fix.

I don't like the idea of getting a moderator involved if we could simply have the tools that can help save them/you a lot of time and trouble.

My brain works best when I see a feature available for me on my computer screen.

if someone is causing a nuisance to users in the chat, that's exactly what mods are for. it's always better to stop problem behaviour than simply block it out and pretend it isn't happening, imo.

I'm being serious about it.  If no one else around here wants to look into my suggestion seriously, I will probably leave this site.  That may not solve the problem exactly according to how certain individuals would like for it to be resolved, but I will do what I feel is necessary.  I like this site, but I'm going to do what I think is best for my issue.

All I ask is for someone to look into this and give my idea some serious consideration.  I realize I can do some functions in my profile to ignore/block people.  I have now implemented it on this individual.  Now I want to take this a step further and use that function for the chat too.

I will submit a message to report this as an issue.  By doing so, I am hoping someone in the programming/management level around here will look into it.

i didn't say you weren't being serious but, clearly, if someone is bothering you to the extent you might leave the site, it's far more reasonable to contact a moderator or an admin than demand an entirely new function be established (which, on past experience, would probably be very slow in coming, even if it were to be implemented).

possibly we won't come to an agreement on this - which is fine, as it's for tptb to decide whether they can/will implement a block feature - but if seems to me that if someone is hellbent on harassing you through this site, a chat block feature isn't going to stop them. reporting the problem to a moderator and getting appropriate action taken is likely to be far more effective.

We looked into it, but unfortunately it's not possible at the moment.  We requested that it be added to the list for consideration, but I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon.  Sorry!
