Rivers said that this would be happening in a Spin interview.

Hell yes. Maybe each Alone album from here on out will feature demos from different eras. However, I do enjoy the mixture of stylers and sounds on these albums.

For those who can't be bothered to read it:
Alone 3 will be Pinkerton Years
Alone 6 will be only Rivers Cuomo songs
There will be no more after that, as the rest are only scraps of songs or only half-finished.
That means we can expect to see pretty much all solo + Weezer demos out within a few years!

I swear that Rivers said in a Ustream chat once that Alone 6 would only be covers. Perhaps the interviewer misheard him?

why can't weezer just go into the studio and re-record all these songs and put them out on more dtfm type cds.

Ace said in a stream that Alone 4 would be covers and Alone 5 and 6 would be Weezer songs. He didn't make clear whether it was Weezer demo's or demo's of Weezer songs.
