i have been reminded repeatedly that, according to the guidelines, i am to show respect to the mods, admins, board members and band at all times. like a number of people here, i push this where i can, but ultimately if a moderator or administrator asks me to stop i will do so, because i respect the guidelines that are in place. i also respect the fact that the mod/admin team puts up with this b*******. (some mods more than others, because it's no secret that at least half the moderating team doesn't visit this forum regularly.)
this leads me to perhaps the most egregious display of disrespect, which happened in a private chat with a moderator. they will remain nameless, because my previous mention of this resulted in a ban, however i do have screenshots to confirm this matter. after lecturing me about my need to respect mods/admin here, i was told that my actions here confuse other members, because, and i quote, this community is made up of "less educated" "n00bs."
do the forum guidelines regarding respect towards weezer.com members not apply to moderators?
with love and respect,
kittens j. bieber <3
p.s., anyone who has made it this far, i am making a sincere request that you not take this off-topic. this is bigger than your personal issues with me.

Permalink Reply by karl koch [karlophone] on February 18, 2011 at 1:52am hi - you were suspended for violating the guideline stating that members should refrain from posting private chats or correspondence. You were also suspended for publicly antagonizing and disrespecting administrators, moderators, and other boardies, even after it was made clear that you were in violation of guidelines. Nevertheless, I'm sorry that all of your posts were deleted. When suspension is warranted, mods will be advised not to delete ALL of a member's content. Individual trolling posts will still be deleted or moved to other forums when they stray off-topic or do not adhere to guidelines.
mods have a responsibility to adhere to the guidelines as much as anyone here, if not more so. sometimes things get heated (as youve noted, sometimes youve stirred it up intentionally) but thats when everyone, mod or no, needs to take a deep breath and cool it down... like New Edition once said.

Also I don't think I would want a moderator who feels that this community is made up of less educated noobs. I am part of this community and that is very insulting. I am a very well-educated noob and I don't appreciate that.
Permalink Reply by kittens bieber ♥ on February 18, 2011 at 12:30pm i appreciate the response, karl. however i'd like to clarify a couple of things.
i have NEVER been approached by a moderator or administrator regarding my treatment of other boardies. three out of the four (?) times that i have been contacted by moderators or administrators involved requests for name-changes, and i adhered to these requests.
the only other time came after the (unlisted) administrator had already moved/locked/deleted my threads with no explanation or warning. if the administrator had either posted a response in those threads, or sent me a message explaining why they belonged in all things not weezer, i would have been more willing to let it go. however the administrator only sent me an explanation after the fact, and frankly the answer made no sense. i still have not seen a rational explanation as to why threads deemed offensive by an administrator were simply moved to a different forum, rather than deleted immediately.
i don't think it's too much to ask for moderators and administrators to provide a basic explanation when moving/locking/deleting threads (with an exception for blatant offenses like spam or porn). this exact suggestion was made once already in this forum, so i know i'm not the only person here who thinks this would be useful.

Permalink Reply by placemats on February 18, 2011 at 2:33pm 1. Jon does make an excellent point. Many moderators have not been around enough to get to know the users or understand the vibe on this forum. A review would be a good idea.
2. I too, am a well-educated noob and feel insulted by that comment.
3. Mods should be able to moderate objectively, without letting personal feelings get in the way or using Gestapo-like methods. And I'm not saying any mod has or has not done this. I'm just sayin'.

Permalink Reply by kittens bieber ♥ on February 18, 2011 at 2:35pm with all due respect i'd prefer to mention it here, because it is related to the discussion on moderation of this board.
i understand why you felt my threads needed to be moved. i do not understand why, after you ultimately deleted the threads, you sent me a private message quoting the paragraph of the guidelines that refers to offensive content. if the threads were so offensive that they needed to be deleted, why did you even bother moving them in the first place? this is what doesn't make sense to me. furthermore, if there was offensive content in the threads, was it not possible to simply remove the offending posts and leave the threads?
this is why i think it would be helpful for mods/admins to explain their actions when locking/moving/deleting threads. i seriously don't understand why entire threads had to be deleted to remove a few offensive posts.
